Only four universities - University of Delhi (481-490); Jadavpur University (601-650), University of Hyderabad (601-650) and Anna University (651-700) figured in the top.
The latest edition of the rankings also showed that, of the Chinese universities included in the Top 100, six of them are from the Chinese mainland.
Among the institutions in the Chinese mainland, Tsinghua University ranks the highest, at the world's Top 25.
The university said the scores for global students and employer reputation showed the highest improvement for UJ between 2016-2017.
