After running through all the changes to today's models, Apple gave a sneak preview of the iMac Pro, a workstation-class version of the 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display that's scheduled to ship at the end of the year. The support for Face time HD camera, makes the device, even more desirable.
But that's it. You wouldn't be able to discern this from Apple's site, but the processor is still from Intel's fifth generation, known as Broadwell.
To see how what the Radeon Pro 570 could handle, I set the iMac display to the highest possible 3200 by 1800 pixel (you can go higher with a third party utility) and the Unigine Valley benchmark to Ultra high quality and 8 times anti-aliasing. If you're someone who justified a 5K iMac at the time and are considering an upgrade, there's a fair chance your work is pretty demanding hardware-wise, and that 2015 tech just isn't going to cut it for much longer.
Moving on to the 27-inches iMac comes with Retina 5K Display and is powered by the Intel Core i5 3.4GHz processor quad-core with 4GB Radeon Pro 570 graphics. It would simply be out of character for Apple to bolt entirely new interface paradigms onto MacOS just because Windows is doing it. There is also the 16 GB RAM, something that will apparently stick at least until the next MacBook Pro models. Here are the key specifications for the two models. It supports up to 4TB SSD, 128GB ECC RAM, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, and 10Gb Ethernet - a first for Mac. The Radeon Pro 500 series makes use of the critically-acclaimed "Polaris" GPU architecture, delivering the flawless balance of performance and operating efficiency that makes them ideal for All-In-Ones. Most of the external hard drives I use are Thunderbolt 2, forcing me once again to live that unavoidable #donglelife. The 21.5-inch iMac and the 4K iMac are priced at Rs 90,900 and Rs 1,07,900 respectively.
Apple also said during the WWDC keynote that all of its laptops now have solid-state drives that feature a 50 percent speed improvement.
