Jeremy Corbyn rules out deal with SNP in hung parliament

The Scottish National Party (SNP) has pledged to scrap the Lifetime ISA (LISA) and maintain the triple lock in its 2017 general election manifesto.

The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) welcomed the statement from the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that "next year and future years we will not assume a 1 per cent pay cap" for public sector workers alongside a commitment to work with trade unions.

"The SNP will continue to seek devolution of immigration powers so that Scotland can have an immigration policy that works for our economy and society", it pledges, echoing English MPs led by Labour's Chuka Umunna who want left-wing strongholds to be able to set their own immigration policies.

In a speech in Perth today (Tuesday 30 May) the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon outlined her party's position in contrast to the ideology of the UK Tory party and its Scottish party, which she claimed was "representing the hardest of Brexit, damaging Scotland and its economy".

"This was a exhausted launch by a First Minister who has failed to give people a reason for voting for her party". Today's manifesto launch will set out the real alternative to Tory cuts and Brexit chaos.

If it is repealed and replaced with a British Bill of Human Rights then it could need a Legislative Consent Memorandum under the Sewel Convention, which is supposed to stop Westminster legislating on devolved matters in Scotland without the consent of the Scottish Parliament.
