Doyle says despite progress in Foran's personal rehabilitation this year, he feels uneasy about his return to the inevitable spotlight of Sydney.

The Bulldogs confirmed the signing of Foran on a three-year deal from the 2018 season today, ending months of speculation about the club's pursuit of the Warriors star.

Having remained in Australia with his children after playing in the Kiwis' 30-12 Test loss to the Kangaroos last Friday, Foran said he made a final decision on his future on Tuesday after discussions with Warriors coach Stephen Kearney and club chief Jim Doyle.

It's no secret the Bulldogs coach made a play for Foran last time he came off-contract although he ultimately chose to pen a lucrative deal with Parramatta which last just half a year.

He'd then prepare for life at the Bulldogs with former Manly mentor Des Hasler, who gave Foran his NRL start and under whom Foran always felt at ease.

Doyle, who has forged a close relationship with Foran, revealed the player's wider family were keen for him to stay in New Zealand, where he has enjoyed a settled lifestyle.

"He will be here at the Bulldogs next year and two more years after that", Hasler said.

Houston played as if a win was a foregone conclusion once it was announced Leonard would be out with an ankle injury. They stuck to what they figured would work, the players bought in, and it paid off in Games 5 and 6.

"At the end of the day, I think any coach would certainly have to tick that box, that there's always a mentoring role for all the players".

"But, in the end, it came down to my kids and what's best for them. That's something he'll need to work through with the Bulldogs and the family round him". "Rugby league is well supported by a lot of institutions that have worked very hard in that field, especially males".

Foran's two young children both live in Sydney, and it's understood that was the deciding factor in the Kiwi worldwide deciding to leave New Zealand.

His recruitment comes less than two weeks after confirmation Aaron Woods wwill also be moving next season to Belmore.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of Kieran for the next three seasons", Castle said.

"Of course, we would have liked Kieran to stay longer and we looked at ways of making that possible", he said.
