Sunderland needed a win at home against AFC Bournemouth to keep alive their faint hopes of survival but the Black Cats who have been bad all season under Coach David Moyes were beaten at the Stadium of Light.

The result coupled with Hull City's draw at Southampton means David Moyes' side are 14 points from safety with four games left.

AFC Bournemouth's Lewis Cook, center, and Sunderland's Didier Ibrahim Ndong battle for the ball during the English Premier League soccer match at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland, England, Saturday, April 29, 2017.

But as the game began to open up in the closing stages, King slotted home from close range as Bournemouth caught the Lads on the break, and in doing so ended the Black Cats' 10 year Premier League stay.

Jamie Vardy capitalised on a Baggies error to give the Foxes a half time lead, and Craig Shakespeare's side didn't look back, as they held on to secure all three points.

"The fans had a right to be a lot more frustrated and to show a lot more anger, but I think they'd come to the realisation that. obviously if we'd got the win today we'd have a chance to survive".

"But I really hoped that this situation wouldn't come".

"We're all disappointed and I feel more for the supporters". I think Moyes has been lazy with his signings.

5 incredible stats from Isaiah Thomas' 53-point night for Celtics
The Wiz raced out to a 16-8 lead and led after the 1st quarter 42 to 29, behind Wall's 19 points and Morris' 10 points. Thomas scored 29 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, which nearly matched the Wizards as a team, who scored 30.

"We had four or five good opportunities and did a good job", he added.

Moyes refused to apportion blame for the club's drop into the Championship and the disappointed Scot said it was too soon to decide if he would stay in charge for next season.

Barnes struck after just eight minutes and Tom Heaton kept Palace at bay before substitute Gray hit a late second to ensure the Clarets finally registered their first success on the road this season.

I have no sympathy with them - they deserved to do down. Not so pleased with the performance but to get over the 40-point mark today is massive for the football club.

Howe deemed the achievement to be "excellent" considering the "size of the clubs we're (Bournemouth) competing against".

And Moyes admits he wants to guide Sunderland back to the Premier League next season.

The Black Cats gained promotion to the Premier League after winning the 2006-07 Championship title, and their highest first-tier achievement since then was the 10th-place finish managed in 2010-11. "But it's an unforgiving league and small margins decide every game".
