Washington Wizards center Ian Mahinmi (28), right, steals a ball from Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (7) during the second half in Game 3 of a second-round NBA playoff series basketball game, Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Washington.
The NBA on Saturday announced Oubre's suspension without pay for "charging and making forceful and unwarranted contact". Game 4 is this evening in Washington.
"I just gotta make the same reads", Thomas said. "The league has to do what they have to do". They have to handle the situation. Olynyk knocked him to the ground on an illegal screen, and Oubre leapt to his feet, sprinted at him and bowled him over.
Oubre's punishment was so unsurprising that even the 21-year-old forward himself thought he earned it. But not having him, it's not ideal, but it is what it is. Obviously being as solid as you can on both ends of the floor and finishing plays, there's a lot that goes into all of that. "You can't worry about who's not playing".
The 89 points Boston scored in Game 3 was their worst offensive showing of the season against Washington. Or he could plug another player into the rotation like Jason Smith.
If this kind of incident can cause teams to play harder and rally behind one another, that is another area the Celtics will really not be impacted.
Isaiah Thomas' mouth is bearing the brunt of the physical playoff series between the Celtics and Wizards. Martin Gortat had 13 points and 16 rebounds while Otto Porter Jr. had 19 points with eight boards.

The movie, which features stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, was released nationwide on May 5 . It looks like the galaxy has been successfully guarded yet again; the Marvel galaxy that is.
Everyone's healthy. However, Kelly Oubre will not be available for Washington because he was suspended for Sunday's game.
"No question that has been a major issue against them for most teams", said Stevens. For one game, at least, the Washington Wizards were able to match and even exceed the Celtics' aggressiveness.
Indeed, the media should give these teams the attention they fully deserve moving forward, because what they have here is a pulsating rivalry not seen since the gritty and glorified era of 90s basketball.
"This series is going to be feisty", said Washington guard Brandon Jennings, who was ejected in the fourth quarter along with Boston's Terry Rozier for two double technical fouls. We just have to pick one by tomorrow early evening. Amir Johnson will get the nod in Game 4 alongside Al Horford and Jae Crowder in the front court with Avery Bradley and Thomas in the back.
Insane is just how the Wizards like it.
The Celtics and Wizards racked up a combined 16 technical fouls during their four regular-season matchups. They tried to post us with a variety of guys, and then Gortat, you know, Gortat's a guy with his ability to play in the seams as a passer, but also roll to the rim or seal you up the lane and get lobs to the rim, makes a lot of great plays for them. Unlike in the opening two games, those players kept Thomas from finding a rhythm and Boston's attack suffered.
Physicality has certainly played a part in this series. The Wizards have to be excited to have their defensive stalwart back in the lineup. The guy is a basketball player that's hard to stop. "That's what goes on with it".
