Perdue is slated to be sworn in during a short ceremony at the Supreme Court early Tuesday morning and later speak with department employees before participating in a farmer roundtable and executive order signing with Trump.
The Senate has confirmed former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue as agriculture secretary. The final vote was 87 to 11.
The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to be the next secretary of agriculture.
"USMEF is pleased to see Secretary Perdue receive such strong, bipartisan support in the Senate, and we look forward to working with him to promote U.S. red meat products worldwide", said U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) President and CEO Philip Seng.
"Secretary Perdue is a strong friend of America's farmers and ranchers, and I know he will work to ensure that agriculture is a top priority in the new administration", Conaway said.
The National Corn Growers Association support the new leader implemented to spearhead the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). "Secretary Perdue will bring an agricultural perspective that is closely aligned with Kentucky's interests". USDA has gone for more than three years without an Under Secretary for Food Safety, a presidential appointment that is required by law.
Plains Cotton Growers also applauded the confirmation.
Current farm policy expires next year.

Dattar argued that the government's plan to use Aadhaar as an identitiy proof to curb black money was a smokescreen. Datar also argued that Aadhaar can not be made mandatory for any scheme or service by the government.
"He understands that the Agriculture Department has a profound impact on almost every community across the country and certainly every family", said U.S. Sen.
Sen. Jon Tester endorsed Perdue on the Senate floor prior to the vote.
Smith also says producers at his Farm Bill listening sessions in Scottsbluff and Aurora last week made it clear they wanted confirmation as soon as possible to "hit the ground running on agriculture policy".
His main task over the coming year will be working with Congress and coordinating his department's input on the next five-year farm bill.
"The multiple functions of the task force will help move our industry forward, and specific directives like addressing regulatory barriers farmers face and investing in the infrastructure on which our industry depends will directly address some of our most significant challenges".
"As secretary, I will champion the concerns of farmers, ranchers, foresters, and producers, and will work tirelessly to solve the issues facing our farm families", Perdue said.
Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order aimed at reducing the regulatory and tax burden on American farmers and agriculture.
