Mr Farron was speaking as he visited the Manchester seats of Gorton and Withington, two of a string of Remain-voting Labour strongholds in the North West of England which the Lib Dems hope to snatch from Mr Corbyn's party.
Ten of the 100 seats with the highest Remain vote last June are in the North of England, two of which are now held by the Liberal Democrats and seven by Labour.
British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has now ruled out backing a second referendum on the final Brexit deal after suggestions Labour could include the policy in their general election manifesto.A spokesman for the Labour leader said: "A second referendum is not our policy and it won't be in our manifesto".
"Labour's fair and "soft" Brexit deal which is good for all of us, or the "hard" Brexit of Theresa May which will exacerbate divisions within our society and bring with it a more precarious economy, cuts in our health, welfare and education services, and falling living standards". Britain's parliament has endorsed May's call for a vote on June 8.
May's decision to hold the June 8th poll would bring stability to the Brexit negotiations and their aftermath, Tajani said, ensuring that Brussels had would be dealing with the same interlocutors for the next five years.
Somewhat unkindly, some papers are saying May called the election because she feared the controversial Corbyn was about to resign and she would face a stronger Opposition leader.
In her speech on Tuesday at the door of 10 Downing Street, May made it clear why she wanted an early election.

An amendment revealed last week is meant to be a compromise for the most conservative members to agree to support the bill. The savings would fund tax cuts for wealthy Americans and corporations.
"(May) will try to downplay the issues that affect people's lives every day and instead turn the election into an ego trip about her own failing leadership and the machinations of the coming negotiations in Brussels", he said.
They also agreed on the importance of giving "early certainty" about the status of British citizens living elsewhere in the European Union and citizens of other member states in the United Kingdom. If I were Southern Rail or Philip Green [chairman of Arcadia Group], I'd be anxious about a Labour government'.
"But of course those people don't want us to win".
Avoiding a situation in which negotiations reached their conclusion in the run-up to a British general election campaign was also positive for the European Union, he said.
"Governments always like larger majorities, but they don't necessarily lead to better government".
Answering questions, Mr Corbyn said Labour's manifesto would be "fully costed and will be all accounted for and paid for".
She said she preferred "to get out and about and meet voters".
