It does not look like he will hesitate to destroy the North Korean missile and nuclear bomb test sites, which have surely been pinpointed by its satellites.

Vice President Mike Pence rushed to South Korea and announced "the era of strategic patience is over". But Pence expressed impatience with the unwillingness of the regime to move toward ridding itself of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

Since taking office, however, USA tensions with North Korea have soared amid a drumbeat of missile tests and fears that Pyongyang may be readying a sixth nuclear test.

The singing was followed by footage of its test-firing of a missile in February which, in the video, was joined by other missiles shooting into sky, passing over the Pacific and exploding in giant balls of flames in the United States. Of course they have said all the choices are on the table.

"I hope that there will not be any unilateral actions like the one we saw recently in Syria".

To calm Kim, the US might offer to reduce the number of USA troops used during these training missions in agreement, of course, with South Korea.

Seoul, the South Korean capital, is just a stone's throw away from the military demarcation line that splits the Korean peninsula and is within easy range of North Korean long-range artillery. "But dialogue for the sake of having dialogue is meaningless".

Pence's Asia tour came amid increasing tensions and heated rhetoric on the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. president might worry the Russians were preparing to invade, similar to Kim's fears about Americans. "But she was on her way up to Korea", said US Defense Secretary, James Mattis.

It's clear that North Korea is not backing down.

Another official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss an intelligence matter, said the missile was a Scud variant that the US calls a KN-17.
