After Kyle Barraclough lost the Marlins' no-hitter two outs shy of completion Tuesday, and after he finished off their 5-0 win over the Seattle Mariners, he ducked into the clubhouse, took out his phone and shot off a text to the guy who ruined it, Mitch Haniger. This time around, it was Marlins starter Wei-Yin Chen in Seattle. "Once we got through the eighth there, and they hit a couple of those dribblers and we were able to get outs". The Mariners, remember, blew a six-run lead in the ninth inning on April 9 at Anaheim.

On Saturday, the Oakland A's also removed a pitcher in the middle of a no-hit bid, pulling starter Sean Manaea after only five innings.

Chen, the Marlins' 31-year-old starting pitcher, dazzled, puzzled and ultimately constricted the Mariners.

Angels 5, Astros 2: Albert Pujols hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning to give Los Angeles a victory over Houston and snap a six-game skid.

All told, Chen tossed 100 pitches before manager Don Mattingly pulled him in favor of Ziegler, who registered seven strikes on 11 pitches to efficiently work his way through the eighth inning. Prado had two hits.

Mariners reliever Tony Zych, in his second appearance since being activated from the disabled list, threw a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two.

After Chen walked one batter and hit another in the seventh, Mattingly said, he had seen enough. The damage would have been worse if not for Guillermo Heredia robbing Marcell Ozuna of a three-run homer in the first inning with a leaping catch at the wall.

Chen started the seventh inning with another walk - to Haniger, who worked back from a 0-2 hole. Justin Bour doubled Miami's run total with a two-run home run to left field in the third.

The Mariners won their fourth straight since a 2-8 start.

In his second season with the Marlins previous year, Suzuki collected his 3,000 hit to join the hallowed fraternity. The hit extended Haniger's hit streak to 12 games.

Dyson opened the Mariners' first with a drive over the Yelich's head in center field. Paxton has not allowed an earned run in his first 21 innings. Manager Scott Servais said Segura could end up going to Double-A Arkansas for a couple of rehab games and rejoin the Mariners in Detroit for the start of a series next Tuesday.
