A student who was wounded in the shooting at a San Bernardino elementary school earlier this week is now home and recovering, a school district spokesperson said Friday. According to reports, Anderson went to the school intent on harming Smith and in the process killed eight-year-old student Jonathan Martinez and injured nine-year-old Nolan Brandy.

Leon and Rachel Brandy, Nolan's parents, released a statement Wednesday thanking the community "for the outpouring of prayers and support".

A 9-year-old student who survived the classroom gunfire at North Park Elementary School is recovering and in good spirits. In the week before Monday's shooting, Smith told family members that Anderson had tried to get her to return home and threatened her, but she didn't take him seriously. Marsden said general policy for adult visitors to classrooms involves showing identification and stating objective of the visit. "There was no indication the gun was visible upon his arrival at the school", Maass said.

The boy was shot in the torso, but the bullet missed all of his vital organs, said Maria Garcia, a San Bernardino schools spokeswoman.

One parent said she and others supported the office worker who permitted Anderson onto the campus, saying that person could not have known his intent when he came to the school. Just a month into their marriage, Anderson had accused his wife of infidelity - though police say there is no evidence of that - and when reconciliation efforts failed, he shot and killed her, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said. "This travesty ripped her soul from so many lives she touched every day and sent God two angels to watch over all of us". The San Bernardino Police released photos of Anderson, who they identified as a suspect, and Smith, one of the victims.
