West Indies set record to beat Pakistan by four wickets

With automatic qualification for the ICC World Cup set at eight teams, the win represents a boost for West Indies - now ranked in ninth place.

Pakistan, heavily favoured after winning the Twenty20 series 3-1, was made to bat first by the heavily depleted West Indies and put up a comfortable 308-5. Instead of walking away from the team he had hand-crafted into one the best units to come out of Pakistan, Misbah made a decision to lead his team one last time on the tour of the West Indies to ensure that the transition to the next captain would be a smooth one.

Pakistan's Babar Azam, on Sunday became the second fastest batsman to reach five ODI centuries when he scored 125 runs against West Indies.

Recognising the threat posed by leg-spinner Khan, Mohammed targeted the pacers to great effect, most of his three sixes and 11 fours coming off them.

On 156 for two in the 33rd over, West Indies received a huge setback when they lost both Powell and Hope in successive overs. He quickly switched gears, bringing up his fifty off 31 balls, and dominated the 70-run fifth-wicket partnership with Jonathan Carter, which revived the chase.

He savaged seamer Hasan Ali for 15 runs in the 40th over to move to 46 and raised his half-century off a mere 31 balls with a pulled boundary off the first ball of the next over from Wahab.

The GST bill along with some supplementary legislations were approved by members of the Lok Sabha, the parliament's lower house. The bill will enable levy and collection of tax on intra-state supply of goods and services or both by union territories.

Pakistan found free scoring hard at the start of the innings and lost both openers to excellent leg-side catches by wicketkeeper Shai Hope off fast bowlers Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph.

He received critical support from Imad Wasim, who came in with the score 183-5 and finished unbeaten on 43, playing his part in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 99, including 84 off the last seven overs.

The second ODI will be played in Providence on April 9.

The right-handed stylish batsman played 132 deliveries. Captain Jason Holder got the only other Pakistan wicket as the visitors compiled a solid total.
