Fort Smith native Katlin Donnelly recently moved close to San Bernardino a few months ago.

Counselors and psychologists trained in helping children and victims cope with trauma are meeting with families and school staff to begin the healing process for the more than 500 students who attend North Park Elementary. "They all just fell in love with him and he put smiles on all their faces".

Burguan said Anderson, who had shown his identification to school employees in the front office before being allowed in to her class unescorted, kept his weapon concealed until opening fire without saying a word.

On Monday, Cedric Anderson walked into the elementary school classroom of Karen Smith, his estranged wife, and fired ten shots from a Smith & Wesson revolver.

She wrote in court documents that Cedric wanted her to pay for their divorce, and when she refused, he told her that "we would all die, me the kids and himself".

Phil Mickelson started out birdie-birdie before his round fell apart with a chunked wedge on No. 3 that led to double bogey. A three-way tie for third at four under included world No.8 Rickie Fowler, Englishman Paul Casey and Charl Schwartzel.

Sykes said she didn't know the details of what went on in the brief marriage, but police say 53-year-old Anderson had previous domestic violence allegations against him.

"The family wants, in the memory of Jonathan, for the nation to be aware and conscious of what Williams syndrome is", Superintendent Dale Marsden said. Anderson was also alleged to have threatened to kill his ex-wife.

Another 9-year-old student was also injured in the shooting, but survived. They included students who had been evacuated from their school; parents, teachers and volunteers who had rushed to Cajon High School in the afternoon to offer help; and longtime city residents who had watched yet another local tragedy play out on live television.

But according to police and members of Smith's family, the union between Anderson, 53, and Smith, also 53, was anything but.

Burguan did not elaborate except to say there was no "specific threat to shoot her".

"She had a huge impact on his life. He started reading and doing long math", Valles said. "I told her you have turned his life around. You've done for him but I couldn't do".

Smith's mother, Irma Sykes, said her daughter had been friends with Anderson for about four years before they got married.

"She keeps telling me, 'My teacher got shot, my friend got shot, '" her mother, Elizabeth Barajas, said as she clutched her daughter's blood-stained sweatshirt. "They were just her babies", Fields said. 'Her anchor is that she sees God.
