LONDON-Britain's Brexit minister said Monday that negotiations with the European Union may not start next Monday, as originally planned, raising the prospect that the political uncertainty facing the U.K.in the wake of the inconclusive election results could interfere with the timeline for negotiations.
"We are ready to start negotiations", Juncker told POLITICO on the sidelines at a conference in Prague.
Mrs May says she will form a government with the Democratic Unionist Party from Northern Ireland, which won 10 seats.
"I hope the United Kingdom will soon have a stable government to start negotiations", Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament's top Brexit official said. "We want to do it quickly, respecting the timetable and I don't see any obstacle in the way of finalising the negotiations".
"One year after their referendum, we still don't know the British position in the negotiations on Brexit and it seems hard to predict when we will because democracy often requires time", she said. "Thus we must begin this negotiation".
Elected EU officials and members of the European Parliament aimed their fire squarely at Theresa May - who called the snap election in an attempt to strengthen her hand in the Brexit talks - and the wider Conservative Party.
Pena Nieto said he hopes a "global" agreement between Mexico and the European Union could be finalised by the end of the year.

"London has started to realize that a complete breakdown of relations with Europe is not a positive factor", Tajani told the Corriere Della Sera newspaper in the interview on Friday. "Do your best to avoid a "no deal" as result of "no negotiations", he wrote.
