United States, Canada and Mexico announce joint 2026 World Cup bid

Gulati attempted to deflect questions about a tournament involving the USA and Mexico amid President Trump's harsh words toward America's southern neighbor, saying that Trump had given his backing to the proposal and was "especially pleased that Mexico was a part of this bid". He is especially pleased that Mexico is part of this bid.

If the bid is accepted, it would be the first time that three countries jointly host a FIFA World Cup.

It's been an open secret for months but now the United States, Mexico and Canada look set to formally announce a joint bid for the 2026 World Cup later today. However, Africa had the 2010 edition (South Africa) and South America 2014 (Brazil).

In a press conference in New York City, the heads of the three federations outlined their plan to bring the world's showpiece soccer event to North America. Toronto's BMO Field, with a grass surface and expandable to a 40,000-seat capacity, would be a sure bet for one of the Canadian venues.

Infantino has warned that nations considering bidding for the World Cup must allow any team who qualifies, and their supporters, access to the country. The site of the opening match is under discussion, Gulati said. "I would assume this would be the same", he said.

The United States will received the bulk of the tournament's games, as expected-the U.S.is already CONCACAF's go-to country, with so many immigrants living there-but there are complications. "It's an event second to none". That change came in the wake of allegations of wrongdoing surrounding Qatar's successful bid for the 2022 event, in which the tiny, oil-rich nation beat out proposals from the U.S., Japan and South Korea. "If we get the tournament it will accelerate the process".

But the governing body went back on that decision previous year, saying it will permit joint bids if they are from members of the same organizing committee.

Should the three-nation bid earn hosting rights, a debate is likely to ensue as to whether each should receive automatic qualification to the tournament.

Wells Fargo report: no 'pattern of retaliation' against whistleblowers
Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) belongs to the "Financial" sector with an industry focus on "Money Center Banks", with Mr. The report said department heads such as Tolstedt were given power to run their divisions with little oversight.

Federation Internationale de Football Association is expected to confirm its rules for hosting the 2026 World Cup at its Congress on May 11 in Bahrain, though the world governing body said in October that countries in Europe and Asia will be prevented from bidding because Russia is hosting the 2018 World Cup, while Qatar hosts the 2022 edition.

With Europe and Asia ineligible, CONCACAF could in theory face potential competition from the Africa, South America and Oceania regional confederations.

"We were trying to figure out how (co-hosting) wasn't a good idea and nobody could figure that out", Montaglinai added.

The joint effort would see the USA hosting about 60 World Cup games, with Mexico and Canada splitting the final 20 games between them, The Guardian reported.

The 2026 edition of the tournament will be the first to feature 48 teams, with Federation Internationale de Football Association having voted in January to expand the field from 32 competing nations. "We talked about a co-host eight years ago".

After losing a bid to host the 2022 tournament, the United States still considered being a sole bidder for the 2026 tournament, but inevitably agreed to the mega-bid.

Sunil Gulati, President of the United States Soccer Federation has said in a presser that there is strong encouragement from Donald Trump and hence there are no concerns.
