Swedish cops: Terror truck driver known to authorities

Sweden has always been known for its open-door policy toward migrants and refugees. That was the highest per-capita rate in Europe, and the country's has since reduced the number of refugees and migrants it will accept.

Swedish police have only identified the suspect as a 39-year-old man from Uzbekistan. They said they have been questioning people in connection with the case but no one else has been detained.

Police spokesman Jonas Hysing said that there was no evidence to suggest any further attacks were likely.

"We must show a huge force, we must go against this", she told reporters.

Steve Eklund, an office worker a few blocks away from where the accident occurred, said Sweden's immigration policy had gone wrong.

Elsewhere on Sunday, thousands gathered on the major tourist and shopping street where Friday's attack occurred, killing four and injuring fifteen others.

Lars Holm, a 73-year-old Stockholm resident was visibly upset, after attending a service at Stockholm Cathedral.

Some reports suggested the suspect was a father of four who had previously posted jihadist propaganda on his Facebook page and had images of people injured in the explosion at the Boston Marathon in April 2013.

"There are so many of us who want to help, many more than those who want to hurt us".

Swedish police have arrested a second person in relation to the deadly truck attack in the capital and a court has appointed the person a legal representative, a court official said on Sunday. Their identities were not released.

He worked as a director for music streaming service Spotify and was based in Stockholm with his family.

The local authority in charge of monitoring those injured in the attack said that out of the 15 injured, 10 remain in hospitals, including a child.

Papusa Ciuraru, whose foot was crushed by a boulder displaced by the speeding truck, told the Expressen daily "I thought everyone would run past me and save themselves".

The attack came just weeks after Khalid Masood rammed a rental vehicle through pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, London, killing four of them, then stabbed a policeman to death.

Sweden's police chief Dan Eliason said officers found something in the stolen beer truck that "could be a bomb" or an incendiary device, but said they were still investigating. The department store is part of Sweden-wide chain.

The lorry-hijacked from outside a nearby restaurant-crashed into the front of Ahlens department store in the middle of the afternoon on Drottninggatan (Queen Street), one of the city's main pedestrian thoroughfares.
