Apple's Titanium Credit Card Has A Kryptonite And Facepalm, It's Leather

The much ballyhooed Apple Card had its official us -wide launch yesterday, with eager early adopters rushing to praise the card's titanium body and laser-etched logo.

CBC News has previously reported on battery problems with the iPhone 6, and Geek.com noted how Apple put the charging port for its wireless mouse on the bottom of the device, rendering it impossible to use while charging.

Should your card come into contact with other contaminants, Apple suggests using a lint-free microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol to clean it. But also unlike most in the credit card market, its focus on privacy and simplicity is reflected in the card's nondescript exterior.

One Twitter user noticed the loud noise the all-metal card makes if it is dropped.

Apple just issued guidelines on how to store and clean your Apple Card, and you should read those. So if the Apple Card comes into contact with any hard surfaces or materials, it's possible that the coating can be damaged. The instructions warn users that if two credit cards are placed in the same slot, then the Apple card "could become scratched".

Dwayne Johnson is Forbes' highest paid male actor in the world
The figures are based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry sources. Filling out the top five list is Chris Hemsworth ($76.4 million) in second place, fellow Marvel star Robert Downey Jr .

In new guidelines posted on its website, the Cupertino giant says that "s$3 ome fabrics, like leather and denim, might cause permanent discoloration that will not wash off". But while the card is compatible with Apple's virtual wallet, it is apparently not compatible with your actual wallet.

I'm going to say it if no one else will, but launching a credit card that you can't keep in a leather wallet or jeans pocket is ridiculous. It's not certain whether such a material would affect the card's performance but you can be sure that accessories and cases for the titanium Apple Card will now popup left and right offering protection for the tough yet also fragile card. There is also a cleaning part to keep in mind. Basic household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia or abrasives should not be applied to Apple Card, Apple said. However, the physical Apple Card does not support contactless payments even though the card is activated by tapping the iPhone on the card.

All of this is a moot point, of course, for the majority of users who will simply manage their Goldman Sachs-backed MasterCard entirely through Apple Wallet.

For most iPhones double pressing the home button will bring up the Apple Pay function, which will use your fingerprint to confirm the transaction.
