Nintendo is looking to replicate the success of the original Switch console, which debuted with surprising popularity.
After reports late last year that Nintendo would release a new Nintendo Switch iteration this year, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Nintendo will in fact release two new consoles this year.
It's important to note that Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said earlier this year that the company is "not considering a [Switch] successor or a price cut at this time".
Meanwhile, the fact that two new version of the gaming system are apparently on the way comes as rumors have been building for months that we would likely see a refresh of the Switch sometime in 2019.

Robert Danin, a former senior State Department official and senior fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center, also decried the decision. Israel seized the territory to its northeast from Syria during the Six-Day War in 1967 and annexed it in 1981.
The story cites unnamed parts suppliers and software developers as sources, stating that the developers have access to a prototype.
The other revised Switch would be more of a "premium" option, not entirely unlike the Pro and X variants of Sony and Microsoft's PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively. Meanwhile, the other potential model will target more casual gamers and is a cheaper alternative to the system. This one will lack some of the more advanced features of the switch, such as controller-specific vibrations.
Nintendo often releases slight redesigns of its portable and console hardware a few years into their life cycles.
Moreover, both Nintendo Switch models may release a few months after the announcement, just before games such as Pokemon Sword and Shield hit the shelves. One of the models would be designed for long-time players who want more sophisticated games. We were able to see games like Days Gone, Concrete Genie, Blood & Truth, and new games like Iron Man VR in action and also got a better idea of when to expect them.
