Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas' marathon streak ends with triceps injury

Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas felt he was well on his way to becoming an 11-time Pro Bowl player, but a torn triceps tendon in his left arm in Sunday's 12-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans at FirstEnergy Stadium brought his 2017 season to a premature end.

Thomas suffered a torn left triceps during Sunday's loss to Tennessee and will miss the remainder of his 11th National Football League season, a devastating blow to the perennial Pro Bowler and winless Browns.

The injury, will require months of recovery, ends his streak of consecutive snaps at 10,363. "Obviously being a Browns fan myself, I wish for a winning season for Joe Thomas more than anybody in the whole organization". The sometimes-cliche mantra of "next man up" doesn't apply here.

When Thomas was down, several teammates knelt near him and coach Hue Jackson ran onto the field. "We'll have to adjust and do some things differently, and we will".

The Browns are in even deeper waters as they have to find a tackle that can keep whoever starts at quarterback from getting obliterated on the blindside. They'll continue to evaluate their options during the bye week. "That's where we are right now".

Thomas is a no-brainer for Canton, Ohio, and a size 50-or-so large gold jacket, but he's also ticketed for the operating table in the near future, as an MRI confirmed the triceps tear on Monday. Thomas, who spoke with news reporters on a conference call Monday, said he'll do whatever he can to help the former fifth-round pick from Baylor.

Iraq rejects U.S. call for Iran-backed forces to end operations
The office of Abadi, himself a Shia, said the paramilitary forces were under the authority of the Iraqi government. Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also rejected Tillerson's statement.

Cavaliers forward LeBron James know greatness when he see it, and he respects it. "I don't know exactly what things will look like during the rest of the year, obviously, I've never been through something like this before". Jackson said he expects opposing defenses to take advantage of the situation.

Indeed, there's no replacing Thomas, on the field or off it.

Unfortunately, now the Browns must figure out a way to get their first win this season without their best player. "We have to get over it quick because nobody else cares about that. In the back of your mind you're always prepared for it, but you're not always ready for it". "He has been an ironman", he said.

With Thomas's future in doubt, you may think Thomas would be hanging his head the day after his streak ended. I think I was enough of a realist to understand that I wasn't going to be able to continue on forever without missing a play. We don't have that safety net anymore.

Thomas, the third overall pick in the 2007 draft, somehow has managed to stay healthy through almost ten-and-a-half seasons.

"As fast as we can, we have to turn that corner".
