Newton Killer Arrested in Texas

Alyssa Runyon, 24, and her 4-year-old daughter, Zaylynn Paz, were found dead in their bedrooms Tuesday morning by an ex-boyfriend who went to check on them after Runyon did not answer her phone, law enforcement officials have said.

Hawkins was later arrested after a chase and crash in Taylor, Texas. Murphy said the suspect had a relationship with the 24-year-old victim. The suspect was driving the victim's vehicle when he arrived at a family member's home.

Hawkins led police on a chase through parts of Texas before he crashed the vehicle in Hutto, Texas.

KXAN-TV reports the suspect lost control and crashed into two cars in the parking lot of Christian Brothers Automotive at 580 U.S. 79 - just east of State Highway 130 - before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Newton Police say they have identified a suspect, but continue searching for that person.

Newton Police say authorities received a call around 11 a.m. Tuesday about a possible double murder at the Roanoke Court Apartments. Police said there was no forced entry into the home, which happened overnight at a Duplex.

Zaylynn had been stabbed to death, Newton police have said, while Runyon appears to have been strangled.

"This was a targeted incident and not necessarily a random act that, you know, someone broke into someone's house and committed this".
