Mets Trade Outfielder Jay Bruce To Cleveland Indians

To solve this problem, the Indians made a trade with the New York Mets to acquire Jay Bruce.

In exchange for Bruce and all of his salary, the Mets are getting back 22-year-old right-handed reliever Ryder Ryan, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

The Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline has come and gone, but that doesn't mean teams are done making deals. He gives the Indians a corner outfielder and established bat to replace Michael Brantley, who went on the disabled list Monday with a sprained ankle.

Xinhua said more than 30,000 tourists at Jiuzhaigou were relocated to safety with help from tourist buses and private vehicles. The Sichuan government said rescuers were gradually evacuating tourists and residents who had been cut off by landslides.

With Cleveland now holding a 3.5-game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central, nabbing the 30-year-old is as good a rental it could get for the final eight weeks of the season.

Bruce, 30, has 29 home runs this season for the Mets and 233 in his career, the rest coming with the Cincinnati Reds. He rebounded from last year's struggles when he hit just.219 in 50 games after the Mets acquired him. Conforto is better suited for a corner spot but has shown he can play center field. They again tried to deal him before last week's non-waiver trade deadline but again failed to move him. While those numbers aren't terrific, he is averaging more than a strikeout-per-inning.

For the Mets, this should free up some time for Juan Lagares once he returns from injury along with Brandon Nimmo to get some playing time.
