The 19 other members of the G20 all reaffirmed their commitment to combating climate change through the Paris climate agreement, which the United States withdrew from earlier this year, ignoring the position of the scientific community and almost every other country in the world.
In a communique, the G-20 nations noted the USA decision to withdraw from the agreement in a section dealing with energy and climate.
Unsurprisingly, the protests are particularly large this year (even New York City mayor Bill de Blasio is there, instead of at home fixing the MTA where he should be, but that's for another day).
At least 76 people were hurt during clashes with the police in Hamburg as officials used water cannons to dispel the protesters who were throwing water bottles at them. Police said 197 officers were injured, though none seriously.
