The inmates were being transported in a prisoner transport bus Tuesday morning when they allegedly shot two corrections officers on board, stole their firearms and carjacked a green Honda Civic to escape.
Sills said investigators now have nighttime surveillance video that apparently shows the two men between Madison and the quarry.
Dubose and Rowe ran from the vehicle to the woods.
Both runaways have committed armed robbery and other crimes in the past.
One inmate, Donnie Russel Rowe, is serving life without parole for armed robbery.

The two men had been on the run since Tuesday, when they are accused of having overpowered and killed Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue. "I have their blood on my shoes".
Sills said the fugitives each had 9 mm guns they took off the prison officers they killed.
And there are some noticeable differences in the appearance of the two men when compared to the jail photos that were circulating nationwide following their escape.
It is believed that Rowe and DuBose tied up a couple on Kindree Road in Shelbyville and stole a black Jeep and guns.

The homeowner on Pruitt Road saw Donnie Rowe, 43, and Ricky DuBose, 24, attempting to steal a vehicle from his home. They also ate a beef stew the woman had been preparing, took valuables and clothing, and ordered the man and woman to concoct a story that would hide their identities.
"They are extremely traumatized", Swing said of the couple. Several SUVs were hit and the escapees opened fire on deputies, but no one was injured, officials said. They were not hurt in the pursuit with police.
The pair crashed during a police chase on an interstate outside of Nashville. But this time, a homeowner saw the two trying to steal his vehicle.
The man who held the suspects at bay at gunpoint is set to speak at 5 p.m. Rowe and Dubose surrendered a short time later.
As of Thursday, authorities had not discussed any charges against the fugitives. Police believed the suspects then stole a second vehicle, a 2008 Ford F150 that had the keys still in it, in Morgan County, Georgia, about nine miles from the home where they were believed to have broken into to change clothes, authorities said Wednesday.
Authorities offered a $130,000 reward for information regarding Rowe and Dubose's whereabouts and one Tennessee homeowner did more than tip them off.
