After Butler's departure, Mirotic is now the longest tenured member of the Bulls.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired three-time All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls in a draft-night deal that reunites him with former coach Tom Thibodeau. There's a good chance that the Bulls could draft a stud next year, and early returns have that class looking promising up top.
"We had some wings on our board that we had targeted that were the only way we were going to keep that (No. 38) pick, and they went before us". So he had his motivation, maybe it was emotional, but we're in a position where we have to do what we feel is right. But they addressed their biggest question with one huge move on Thursday. Kicked out of his house in Tomball, Texas, by his mother when he was 13 and with his father out of his life, Butler ultimately rose to stardom in Chicago after being selected No. 30 overall in 2011.
Granted, Wade's knees wouldn't be suited for this fast-paced style of an offensive attack, but he could be useful when teams slow the game down against Houston and he can create shots for both himself and his teammates. Current point man Rajon Rondo, two guard Dwyane Wade and center Robin Lopez are now buyout candidates, since they'd likely want to play for contenders. He will turn 28 in September, right in the middle of his prime for a team in need of veteran leadership.
Butler, one of the league's most dynamic two-way players, joined forces again with Thibodeau, who coached the Bulls for five seasons before being fired in 2015.
Two people with knowledge of the situation say the Bulls are sending Butler and the No. 16 pick for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the seventh pick. "This was the first time a deal came across our desk that justified going in the direction of a rebuild", he added. He noted playing for Chicago Bulls made him happy as he grew up cheering for that team. However, Wade is a 35-year-old shooting guard who is in the twilight of his career. He told the Bulls he is opting in for a second season with his hometown team at almost $24 million this week.

When he said he "could not promise" not to roll them back up, he was sent home. None of the boys involved in the protest will be punished, the statement added.
By obtaining Butler, the Timberwolves are taking on the final three seasons of the US$95 million (S$131 million) deal he signed after the 2014-15 season.
"I'm really honored to be part of this organization, and can't wait to go there and do what I can", Markkanen said.
The move also represents the first significant steps toward an overhaul for the Bulls.
But the Bulls opted not to continue adding youth to their roster when they sold their second-round pick, No. 38 overall, to the Golden State Warriors. During his prep years for the pro, he averaged 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds each game. "There's no difference for me".
"I've been working on my shot, shooting National Basketball Association 3s", Markkanen said. The 6-foot-10 forward is set to become a restricted free agent and has not developed into a consistent threat in his three seasons in Chicago. Forman wouldn't put a timeline on when he will be ready. LaVine is said to be progressing well in his rehabilitation but has yet to resume strenuous basketball activities.
