Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has been summoned to appear before a Spanish judge in July for tax fraud in Spain, and soccer coach Jose Mourinho may be next.

Perez has dismissed speculation that Ronaldo is trying to put pressure on Real so that they will bear some of the burden of an eventual fine for tax evasion as Barcelona did for Lionel Messi.

Perez said that "as far as I know Cristiano has always met [his fiscal obligations]" and that "it all must be some sort of misunderstanding that will be cleared up quickly".

Jose Mourinho is not interested in pursuing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer from Real Madrid and is instead focusing on signing Alvaro Morata, reports Marca in Spain.

Ronaldo, who is in Russian Federation at the Confederations Cup playing for Portugal, has played in Spain for Real Madrid since 2009. "I found out about all this from a newspaper", Perez said.

Ronaldo, 32, has been playing for Real Madrid since 2009 while Mourinho, 54, was a coach for Real Madrid from 2010-13.

A statement issued by Madrid's provincial state prosecutor's office said its investigations indicated the Manchester United manager had committed two counts of tax fraud between 2011 and 2012.

Jose Mourinho savaged after Real Madrid tax fraud accusation.

The Argentine midfielder is accused of failing to pay some 1.3 million euros to the Spanish tax authorities in 2012-2013 by giving up his image rights to companies based in tax havens, such as Panama.

In Spain, sentences of under two years are normally suspended.

Links to his former club United have obviously emerged, as they do nearly annually. The club - which also won La Liga last season - lead the way in the elite European competition with 12 trophies. After less than a year with United, the former Benfica man was sold for a cut price £44 million to PSG, where he has won a French league title, two French Cups and two French league cups.

And Ferdinand, who played with Ronaldo at United for six seasons, hopes his former club can finalise a deal for the four-time Ballon d'Or victor.

Mourinho's United have been touted as the likely destination for Ronaldo, with Real officials admitting they are in the dark as to their star player's plans.
