A top Federal Bureau of Investigation official says that the man who opened fire at a Republican baseball practice a week ago didn't appear to be targeting a specific individual and that the attack appears to have been spontaneous.

A Wednesday FBI press release confirmed much of what has already been reported.

WASHINGTON ― The man who shot at Republicans practicing for a baseball game last week toured locations in the nation's capital, visited the office of Sen.

But other tidbits potentially shed more light on his motives.

The FBI also analyzed Hodgkinson's devices and social-media accounts and said that while his posts included numerous "anti-Republican" sentiments, they appeared so far to be First Amendment-protected speech.

Hodgkinson had a piece of paper that listed the names of six members of Congress, the FBI investigation revealed.

During the assault at the baseball field, Hodgkinson was armed with a 7.62 mm caliber SKS rifle and a 9 mm handgun and fired about 60 rounds, Slater said.

"The morning of the shooting", he continued, "he arrived at his storage unit at 6:23 AM and departed at 6:35 AM".

Police officers shot and killed the gunman, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of IL.

Turkey says it will not close military base in Qatar
If 10 days pass and Qatar has failed to comply, the list becomes "void", the Reuters source said. If Qatar agreed to the conditions its compliance would be closely monitored for 10 years.

The officials also described the June 14 shooting at the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria as more of a spontaneous event and said there was no nexus with terrorism and that he had acted alone. He traveled all the way to Washington, D.C. since March. Hodgkinson was taking prescription drugs, although Slater did not say what the drugs were for or whether he was abusing them.

Matt Mika, another Alexandria shooting victim who suffered severe injuries, is now in good condition, according to George Washington University Hospital.

"The American Hospital Association says a person is in fair condition when the vital signs are stable and within normal limits; the patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable; and indicators are favorable".

Hodgkinson, 66, used a rifle and a handgun to fire almost 60 shots at the Republican baseball team, which was practicing for the annual baseball game the next night.

The lawmakers' offices would not comment on the focus of meeting with the singer, who also had planned concerts in the District.

The group of lawmakers and staffers were practicing for a charity game against a team of Democrats that was played the next day and raised over $1 million.

The gunman was identified as Hodgkinson, 66, who volunteered for Bernie Sanders's presidential campaign.

The sheriff said deputies arrived to find Hodgkinson with a hunting rifle on his property where he was apparently engaged in target practice. Another laptop, a cell phone and a digital camera were found in Hodgkinson's vehicle following the shooting.
