Delhi woman who bobbitised boyfriend on run, relatives held

A 35-year-old street vendor is in the hospital recovering from grievous injuries after his 23-year-old girlfriend allegedly tried to chop off his genitals when he refused to marry her.

In a shocking incident in Delhi, a woman partly chopped off her boyfriend's penis because he alleged refused to have sex with her. The woman's family members have been absconding since the incident. Local residents and neighbours heard his screams and gathered at the spot after which police was called up and he was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital.

"Though the man has undergone a surgery, doctors fear that the reattachment may not be successful", a police officer cautioned.

According to the police, victim Ravi was allegedly attacked at his girlfriend's house where he was called by her relatives at around 11.30 pm.

"The victim told us that when they went into the washroom, the woman asked him to have sex with her. She allegedly threatened him of dire consequences if he did not give in to the demand, a senior police officer said", read the report. Enraged at his refusal, the accused chopped off the victim's genitals with a kitchen knife.

The woman's brother and sister-in-law kept instigating her to teach him a lesson for refusing the proposal.

There, they got into an argument when she once again brought up marriage.

"After being attacked, Ravi ran out of the house crying for help". By the time a police van arrived, the man had fallen unconscious. "Following an immediate surgery, his situation could be brought to normal", the police said. A case has been registered against the woman under Section 326 (voluntarily causing hurt by unsafe weapons) of the IPC.
