Snapchat builds out search capabilities with Snap Map feature

Snapchat's new Snap Map (not to be confused with the DOOM level editor by the same name) allows users to zoom out to their neighborhood, city, country, and even continent to see where their other Snapchat friends are located.

To open the Snap Map, go to your camera screen and pinch your fingers outwards as if you were zooming out from a photo. Plus, meeting up can be a cinch. You can share with select friends, all friends, or with no one if you pick "Ghost Mode".

The Snap Map comes in the new Snapchat update.

Snapchat for Android is available for free on the Play Store.

Snapchat rolled out a new mapping feature today, and like all great social-media experiments, it's walking the line between creepy and extremely cool. These so-called "Actionmoji" will only appear if Snapchat users choose to share their location. If you are accessing this piece of content on another domain, it was illegally copied and reposted in violation of USA & global trademark and copyright law.

Saudi King Ousts Nephew, Names Son as Crown Prince
The newly appointed 31-year-old crown prince will be the first of a new generation of Saudi royals to take power. The younger prince bent down on his knees before his cousin and repeatedly kissed his hand.

With the map, users can view snaps of different events taking places across the world.

"We've built a whole new way to explore the world!"

Snapchat users can click on the "Actionmoji" to begin a chat.

Like existing Stories that are curated around specific events, Snaps on the Map are available to view for about 24 hours after they're posted, and consist of contributions submitted by other users to the "Our Story" group. For instance, the app knows where you sleep and where you work, so it can automatically display a status icon next to your friends. If you don't want your boss to know how you spend your weekends, she won't see it.
