Four-time Ballon d'Or victor Ronaldo is accused of diverting €150m of advertising revenue and image rights through a shell company in the British Virgin Islands, a tax haven.

Mbappe enjoyed a breakthrough season with Monaco which saw him score 26 goals in all competition as they won the Ligue 1 title and had an impressive run to the semi-final stage of the Champions League.

Moreover, Real Madrid fans have launched a petition asking for Ronaldo's tax case to be dropped.

The accusations come as Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was summoned to appear before a judge next month, accused of tax evasion of 14.7 million euros.

A prosecutor said that Mourinho did not declare income from use of his image rights in order to gain an "illicit benefit".

This news as expected, has created a media circus around the world as there has been speculation that Ronaldo might make an unprecedented return to Manchester United with others linking the Madrid star to PSG, the MLS as well as China.

Mourinho is yet to release a statement about the allegations. The soccer star is due to appear in court on July 31.

A number of high-profile football stars have been accused of tax avoidance in recent months, with Cristiano Ronaldo the most recent example.

Club president, Florentino Perez has maintained that only clubs that are willing to match Ronaldo's €1billion buyout clause stand a chance of acquiring his services.

The Red Devils have chased their former No.7's signature in the past, only to see him soon sign a new contract with Real Madrid.

"I will always defend Cristiano as a person and as a footballer".

The statement also said that Mourinho had received a certificate from the authorities confirming that he was "up to date with all his tax obligations".

"I have not talked with him yet, but I will talk with him in the upcoming days".

Perez, a 70-year-old construction magnate said to be close to Ronaldo, was elected unopposed on Monday for a third term in charge of Europe's most successful club.
