The football world in Spain has been rocked by charges of tax evasion or corruption pressed against some of its other leading stars.
Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo will testify on July 31 in Madrid on allegations that he hid income from tax authorities between 2011 and 2014, the court said on Tuesday.
The Madrid judge will decide after a court hearing from both parties and if the Public Prosecution lawsuit is accepted, Ronaldo will be informed to accept culpability within 30 days and pay a fine of about 35m euros or proceed to court, Daily mail reports.
Spain's Budget Minister urged media to respect the presumption of innocence regarding the four-time world player of the year.
However Spanish newspaper Marca claim Ronaldo is still willing to leave the Bernabeu and a meeting will take place after his involvement in the Confederations Cup with Portugal.
Mr Mourinho, 54, is accused of two counts of tax fraud - €1.6m in 2011 and €1.7m in 2012.
Among the clubs reported to be interested in Ronaldo is former team Manchester United for a fee which could hit 200 million euros, with a possible get-out clause of one billion euros.

The two also clashed during their time together at Real Madrid, making matters even more complicated.
The accusations come just a week after Spanish prosecutors brought a parallel case against Mr Ronaldo, Real Madrid's star striker who allegedly withheld taxes worth €14.8 million.
