Jurors got the case around 5:30 p.m. and met for about four hours before knocking off late Monday night, with deliberations set to resume in the morning. The jury could begin deliberations by Monday evening. Those witnesses included a woman who previously accused Cosby of assault, police detectives, and experts on drugs and sexual assault.
They told the judge they wanted the "full context" of Cosby's testimony about the pills he gave to Ms Constand, which he had described to her as "friends". It was read to them by the judge. Although Constand is one of more than 60 women who have come forward accusing Cosby of sexually assaulting them throughout his career, Constand's case is the only one that did not fall within the statute of limitations for Pennsylvania state law.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele opened his closing argument Monday afternoon with a quote from Cosby's 2005 deposition, about drugs he gave to Constand.
McMonagle said that while the comedian had been unfaithful to his wife, he did not commit a crime.
In his closing statement, McMonagle told jurors that Constand had changed her story after speaking with attorneys who specialize in sexual assault cases.
"Drugging somebody and putting them in a position where you can do what you want with them is not romantic", he added.
As jury deliberations continued on Tuesday, Cosby's spokesman, Andrew Wyatt, released a statement from a woman, Marguerite Jackson, who was barred from testifying as a defense witness.
They asked the judge to repeat two different parts of Cosby's statements to authorities, asked the court to define the phrase "without her knowledge" in one of the charges, and asked to hear repeat testimony from the Canadian detective who interviewed Constand.
In one of America's biggest celebrity trials in years, the 79-year-old pioneering black comedian faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault, which each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail and a Sh2.5 million ($25,000) fine. The comedian later told investigators that he remembers giving the then 33-year-old over-the-counter Benadryl tablets to help her "relax".
McMonagle, in his closing argument, tried to sow doubt about Constand's story.
"This isn't talking to a trustee".
During his closing argument, McMonagle flipped between stage-whispered intimacy and earsplitting verbal explosions - as he ran through a long list of possible culprits he says are responsible for landing his client at the center of one of the most high-profile criminal cases in recent American history.
But Constand's is the only criminal case against him as under U.S. statues of limitations.
What's Behind Saudi King Salman's Change of Heart
Bin Salman was welcomed in the White House in March, and two months later the Abu Dhabi crown prince visited Washington. This has practically removed all hurdles for the 31-year-old to ascend the throne once his father retires or dies.
Bill Cosby's wife, Camille, has arrived at court with him on the sixth day of his sexual assault trial. Prosecutors presented nearly no forensic evidence, and legal experts have said the trial fits the "he said-she said" arguments so common to sexual offense cases. She sat in the front row during closing arguments by the defense.
He said Constand was always clear on the key facts: Cosby gave her unidentified pills he suggested were herbal, and then sexually abused her. Prosecutors also called a second accuser, Kelly Johnson, who told jurors that Cosby sexually assaulted her in a similar manner in 1996.
"They have been married for over 50 years and she loves him". He also quizzed Cosby on his decision not to take the stand in his defense. She settled a 2005 civil lawsuit against Cosby for an undisclosed sum, though jurors did not hear about that case. She was later fired from the agency and no charges were brought against Cosby.
McMonagle told the jury that Cosby's freedom is at stake now, not just his finances.
Cosby's testimony in her civil case shows just how hard a witness he would have been to control.
Constand, by contrast, testified for more than seven hours last week.
Gianna Constand, the accuser's fiercely protective mother, testified that Cosby apologized over the phone to her and her daughter and offered to pay for her schooling.
Steele said no amount of "fancy lawyering" will save Cosby from his own words.
"Why on this night does he say this to Andrea Constand?".
"There are some things in this case that should be fuzzy. Why?" Cosby was a member of the board of trustees of the university at the time.
In those depositions, Cosby admitted to stockpiling quaaludes for the express objective of giving them to young women he wanted to have sexual contact with.
The prosecution rested its case on Friday after calling 12 witnesses to the stand.
Steele also noted that Cosby, when asked by police, said he never knew Constand to be dishonest.
