At least 26 people were injured, four seriously, when turbulence struck a China Eastern Airlines plane en route from Europe, according to Chinese media reports.

Flight MU744, departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, was about to land in Kunming Changshui International Airport yesterday morning when it was hit by turbulence, the China Eastern Airlines said via its Weibo account.

Some passengers suffered from broken bones and scalp lacerations after being hit with falling luggage or thrown from their seats during the incident, reported Chinese news agency Xinhua. "The process lasted about 10 minutes".

None of the passengers received life-threatening injuries, said the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province, where those injured were taken.

According to the reports, the nearly two dozen people were injured when Flight MU774, from Paris to Kunming, experienced severe turbulence.

The incident came a week after another China Eastern Airlines flight bound for Shanghai was forced to turn back to Sydney when one of its engines sustained severe damage shortly after take-off.
