Revelation and redemption helped Pakistan turn world cricket's order upside down as Fakhar Zaman's maiden one-day global century and Mohammad Amir's brilliant new-ball spell underpinned a landslide 180-run win over India in the Champions Trophy final.
India handed Pakistan a 124-run defeat in the first group match before Pakistan defeated South Africa, Sri Lanka and then thrashed England in the semifinals to qualify for its first ever Champions Trophy final.
Shikhar Dhawan, who had hitherto had a fine time in England, followed Kohli, edging Amir behind for 21.
Fakhar capitalised on a lucky escape to strike a superb 114 and lift Pakistan to a commanding total of 338 for four and fast bowler Mohammad Amir ripped out India's top three batsmen before the former champions subsided to 158 all out.
Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali made the flawless start for Pakistan even with Zaman "losing" his wicket only for it to be a no-ball and India missing out on a run-out all before the opener reached 10. That flying start and some late hitting by Mohammad Hafeez (57 not out) set the stage for Mohammad Amir to begin the evisceration of India's batting with a spell of three for 16 in six overs that included Kohli.
Saeed Ajmal was bowled first ball, and new man Junaid Khan got off the mark with a single, giving Shahid Afridi the strike against offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin. "We want to be more consistent as a team". In between the two lead spinners, they were hit for 12 boundaries and five sixes. The second Powerplay (Overs 11-40) were fully utilised by Pakistan, who scored 191 runs and bulk of those came off the spinners.
Just two weeks ago India battered Pakistan in the group stages of the ICC Champions Trophy and no one gave the beaten side a chance of even making it in to the knockout stages, how wrong they were.
Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed added: "This is a great achievement for our team and our country".

With his bat tucked under his arm, Fakhar begins the long walk back to the pavilion as the Indians celebrate grabbing their first wicket with only four Pakistan runs on the board.
Kohli accepted his side had been second best as he acknowledged Pakistan's "amazing tournament". We have no hesitation or shame to admit we didn't play our best game today.
It was, all too briefly for India, eight for one when Fakhar went after a wide one from Jasprit Bumrah and edged behind, only to be reprieved by the no-ball call.
"Hopefully this win, everyone will remember - not today, not tomorrow, but for a very long, long time", said Sarfraz, the wicketkeeper who held the final catch that sparked wild celebrations.
"I want to congratulate Pakistan first, they had an fantastic tournament".
This is the greatest number of wickets India has lost at the end of 14 overs since Jan 2013 in a 50-over game.
Pakistan's biggest ODI win over India in terms of runs was largely down to Fakhar Zaman's century. Many Indian fans are now tweeting congratulatory messages for the winning team but also showering the Indian team with love.
