One man died after pedestrians were targeted by a man driving a van near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London early today, in what Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said was 'quite clearly an attack on Muslims'.
- June 3, 2017: Three Islamic extremists ram a van into pedestrians on London Bridge, then stab people at bars and restaurants in Borough Market before being shot to death by police.
Mahmoud kept yelling at the crowd, "Don't hit him, hand him over to the police, pin him down".
Local youths, who are always demonised in this area, were the ones that saved the day.
The names of the victims have not yet been released, but expect more information in the upcoming days. No other suspects have been identified, police said.

Another local said the suspect "was fighting back and tried to get out", but was prevented. But imam Mohammed Mahmoud stepped up and told the angry crowd to stop and to restrain the suspect until police arrived instead.
The London Ambulance Service says the injured are being taken to hospitals. We had no choice. According to authorities, at least one person is dead and at least eight are injured. This was a horrific attack on innocent people going about their daily lives, many of them worshippers leaving evening prayers. Literally he said that, word by word.

Jury deliberating in Minnesota police shooting trial
After three white alternates were dismissed after closing arguments, the 12-member jury included two black and ten white people. The jury is expected to begin considering the case later Monday after just five days of testimony, evidence and arguments.

Scotland Yard said they had arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Those additional patrols will also take place around all places of worship, including mosques, but again we would reiterate that there is no intelligence to suggest that these are at threat.
A witness told Sky News that two other people fled the scene of the attack, but police said there were no other suspects at present.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced that extra police forces were being deployed in London, especially for the protection of communities observing the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May said police are treating the incident "as a potential terrorist attack", and has confirmed that counter-terrorism command is leading an active inquiry.
