US Open: Thomas tickled pink over his 63

It's the first 63 at the U.S. Open since Vijay Singh accomplished the feat at Olympia Fields in 2003 and only the fifth time it's happened in tournament history.

Johnny Miller owned the previous best round of eight-under 63 set en route to victory in the final round at the 1973 US Open at Oakmont. But those errors were comfortably outweighed by nine birdies and a spectacular eagle at the par-five 18th, where he hit his approach shot to eight feet from 299 yards.

Harman, bidding to become the first left-hander to win a US Open, is a victor on the PGA Tour this year while Thomas is the world number 13, a three-time victor this season and a member of the exclusive "59" club after breaking 60 at the Sony Open this year.

The future could be now for Casey who starts the day at seven-under in a four-way tie for the lead alongside compatriot Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Brooks Koepka and Brian Harman.

It cost Thomas his two bogeys, one the par-4 fourth hole where he had distance control problems from the fescue.

He rolled in an 18-foot birdie putt on No. 5 from the edge of the green that broke so severely that he stood with his toes facing the hole and rapped the ball toward his left foot. He grabbed his putter and pointed it out to his left just as the ball dropped into the cup. The leaders still had another two hours before they teed off. Oosthuizen, the former British Open champion at St. Andrews, was hopeful of at least giving them something to think about.

Harman closed with two birdies and three tough pars for a 5-under 67 that gave him a one-shot lead at 12-under 204.

Low scores were available. Not everyone can take advantage. Going into the final round, 42 players were still under par.

North Korea: US officials seized diplomatic package at JFK
Warmbier was arrested back in January 2016 after he overstayed in North Korea - being there on a tourist visa. The spokesman for the DPRK foreign ministry said its delegation was "literally mugged at the John F.

Zach Johnson holed an 8-foot putt on the par-3 ninth for his third birdie of the front nine.

Or you could aggrandize it by pointing out it was done on the longest course ever to hold a major championship, Erin Hills stretched to 7,818 yards for the third round.

"This week I've been working with my coach, just sitting there and thinking, all right, let's go out and try to make a good golf swing and try to make a good putt". He is 1 over for his round with six holes. They are still about three hours away from teeing off.

The world number two, who earlier in the week suggested players unable to find the fairways should "pack their bags", is now contemplating an early exit following a second-round 71.

The race for low amateur at the U.S. Open is down to Cameron Champ's last two holes. Only Rory McIlroy, on his way to victory at Congressional in 2011, has managed a lower score to par through 54 holes than Harman's current number.

Now consider that the largest 36-hole comeback in U.S. Open history was 11 shots by Lou Graham in 1975.
