The "all weather friendship" between China and Pakistan suffered a setback on Friday as Chinese president Xi Jinping decided not to meet Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana.
This accession of India and Pakistan into the group was announced by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the conclusion of the 17th Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
PM Modi said it is impossible to reach a solution till all make concerted efforts, on radicalization, terrorist recruitment, training and financing issues.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, held bilateral meetings with the leaders of Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the SCO meeting in Astana.
Alongside the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenk, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani and Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj also attended the summit as observers.
"Now, our task is to help the new partners to integrate into the extensive work ongoing within the SCO", Putin added.
"Substantive progress" on the China-India-Bangladesh-Myanmar project should also be promoted, Xi said, referring to a project to increase connectivity and trade between the four countries.

The prime minister in his speech at the summit also congratulated India which has also achieved the membership.
India, however, had announced in May that it will boycott the two-day summit, citing that the nation can not accept a project which ignores its core concern over sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"After 12 years of observership, will get membership of SCO".
During his meeting with Xi, Modi said the two sides should tap their potential in cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in worldwide affairs, respect each other's core concerns and appropriately handle their disputes.
China has been upset with India for hosting the Dalai Lama and allowing the Tibetan spiritual leader to visit Arunachal Pradesh, large parts of which Beijing considers as part of southern Tibet.
