The city is joining dozens of others across the country, including Cleveland, in declaring opposition to President Trump's withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.
The withdrawal by the United States from the Paris Agreement "will not change anything" on the efficiency of the climate change multi-lateral agreement, a climate justice campaigner said on Wednesday.
"Our coalition wants to let the world know that absent leadership from our federal government", the country will keep cutting its emissions from fossil fuels, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown told reporters Tuesday.
Trump's decision has left the United States as one of only three countries, along with Syria and Nicaragua, that are not part of the climate pact.
After the announcement, a handful of states - including Hawaii, Washington and NY - pledged to uphold the treaty's goals.

"It's important to commit to addressing climate change, but it's even more important that we actually take meaningful action", said Rep. Chris Lee, Chair of the Energy & Environmental Protection Committee.
Less than one-third (32%) of Republicans, however, said they wanted the U.S.to stay in the pact, while 44% said they approved of Trump's decision to leave it. A few efforts, such as a reduction on methane emissions introduced by the Obama administration, could be overturned more easily. Unlike Elon Musk, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty made a decision to remain on Trump's business advisory council following the USA withdrawal.
"What the president has done, and what's happening in our country right now, we need to double down on our climate action plan", said the Rev. Steve Hammond of the Peace Community Church.
