Sadiq Khan has called for the state visit of Donald Trump to be cancelled because of his tweets in the wake of the London Bridge terror attack.

"When you have a special relationship it's no different from when you have got a close mate", he continued.

In a television appearance on Monday, Khan said Trump was wrong about "many things" and indicated that his diplomatic visit should be cancelled.

Trump presented the remark out of context, implying Khan had said that Londoners should not be alarmed by terrorism. "No reason to be alarmed", the statement read, according to BBC.

The Journal noted that Trump sent tweets early Monday that called his order a "travel ban", although his administration had said the order was not a ban.

Trump mocked Khan on Twitter for saying there is "no reason to be alarmed" after the deadly terror attack. "[Mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!" tweeted Trump. After his election a year ago, Khan tweeted criticism of then-candidate Trump's rhetoric, saying that his "ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe".

Asked whether Trump's tweets signal a shift away from Qatar and toward Saudi Arabia, Nauert stressed, "Our relationship with Qatar is one that is strong".

"The invitation has been issued and accepted, and I see no reason to change that", UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told the "Today" programme.

The greens, predictably, had become quicker in the scorching sun and the pins, even more predictably, were not as generously set. The American defending champion followed up his three-over 75 with a 73 as he failed to reach the weekend at Erin Hills .

"Mark it all down as further evidence that the most effective opponent of the Trump presidency is Donald J. Trump".

The U.S. ambassador to Qatar is also on the spot this week after Trump linked Qatar on Twitter with the "funding of Radical Ideology" and seemingly took sides with Saudi Arabia in Monday's diplomatic flare-up with Qatar.

After May extended the invitation during her trip to the White House in January, more than 1.85 million people signed a petition saying Trump should not be welcomed with a full state visit "because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen".

"There is something quite refreshing about a politician actually doing what they said they'd do before they were elected", said Adam Holloway, Conservative Party Parliament member.

Khan and Trump have had a bitter back-and-forth in the days since the attack, exacerbating the already tense relationship between the British people and the USA government.

"He has risen above this crisis of death and destruction, as mayors continue to do, to alleviate fear, to bring comfort to his people of London and to give support to the first responders who continue to protect, defend and provide emergency care to his people of London", the statement said.

In response, Trump tweeted that was a "pathetic excuse".
