"The bad news, I'm afraid, is lots of people died in the fire". "As a Londoner and as a human being, it is impossible to be unaffected by the harrowing, unnecessary loss of life, injury, sorrow, and the continuing desperate and disturbing situation facing those that were residents of Grenfell Tower, Latimer Road West London", Tom, 39, wrote on his fundraising page.

He said a police investigation by specialist detectives would "establish the facts to provide, as best we possible, answers for those so deeply and tragically affected by the bad fire at Grenfell Tower".

More than 70 people remained unaccounted for.

Police have warned some of the victims may never be identified because of the state of the remains.

Another protestor, Rosa Robson from North London, said she was marching in memory of Kadije Saye who was confirmed as one of the fatalities in the blaze. A Bangladeshi family of five, who lived on the 16th floor, is among those missing.

On Friday she had spoken to survivors recovering in hospital, and last night she visited volunteers and residents inside the nearby St Clement's Church. "She just needed to say a few words of comfort".

"We have to act on it and act on it immediately", Javid told BBC Radio 4. British officials have ordered a review of other buildings that have had similar renovations.

"What we need to do is to get a grip of this and make sure we are meeting their immediate needs as well as their ongoing needs and that is really the priority for Government".

Corbyn ran a campaign promising to end austerity in the recent general election in which May's Conservatives lost their parliamentary majority.

Londoners directed more of their anger toward Prime Minister Theresa May, who they say did not visit victims soon enough, instead choosing to meet with fire crews and police.

She met with injured survivors in hospital yesterday.

US Senate votes near unanimously for Russia, Iran sanctions
In an interview, he dismissed the proposed sanctions and said they reflect an internal political struggle in the United States. The US Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed tough sanctions on Russian Federation over alleged election meddling.

"How many children died? What are you going to do about it?" a young boy asked as Mr Khan tried to stop tensions rising further.

The fire forced residents to flee through black smoke down the single stairwell, jump out of windows or even drop their children to safety.

Mohamad Alhajani, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee, was named as the first victim of the fire, and 24-year-old local artist Khadija Saye has also been named as a victim.

"Mohammed undertook a unsafe journey to flee war and death in Syria, only to meet it here in the United Kingdom, in his own home", the Syrian Solidarity Campaign said in a statement.

Hundreds of protesters also marched on Whitehall, with some chanting "May must go", bringing parts of London to a standstill.

That's what residents of London's 24-story Grenfell Tower had been told to do, but the strategy failed early Wednesday when flames that began on a lower floor spread shockingly fast and quickly engulfed the entire building.

Questions are growing about how the Grenfell Tower fire spread so quickly, focused on the cladding fitted to external walls as part of an £8.7 million ($11 million, 9.9 million euros) refit completed a year ago. The Times said the recently refurbished tower block had been fitted with cladding that wasn't fireproof, and that for less than $6,400 (5,000 pounds), a fire resistant version could have been used instead.

Documents submitted in 2015 by the local authority's property division to its planning division seeking approvals for the refurbishment said the concrete and brick building would be clad in Reynobond insulation panels.

The authority said it was "confident" the cladding is of a correct standard, but will undergo urgent checks with manufacturers.

In an e-mail to The Globe and Mail, Ontario Ministry of Housing spokesman Mark Cripps said the enforcement of safety codes - such as the installation of proper cladding and a long list of other fire-suppression and prevention systems - is up to inspectors at the municipal level.
