Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating whether President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice in the probe of Russian interference in last year's presidential election, according to a story by The Washington Post.
Robert Mueller, the special counsel in charge of investigation allegations of collusion between the Russian government and the Donald Trump presidential campaign, has requested interviews with several high-ranking officials, raising questions that he could be investigating the president for obstruction.
The Post reported that the obstruction of justice investigation of the president began days after James Comey was sacked as the FBI Director on May 9.
In testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week, Comey affirmed that he previously told Trump he was not personally being investigated in the FBI's counterintelligence probe.
Trump, according to The Times, has brought up the legal and political implications of firing Mueller, whom he reportedly thinks is "incapable of an impartial investigation".
Corallo didn't elaborate on why he singled out the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the source of information.
House Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republican leaders publicly said they thought the investigation should be allowed to run its course, and that firing the special counsel would be a mistake.
Diplo: I don't remember making Katy Perry roar in bed
She described being next to Lady Gaga , another famous Clinton supporter, on election night, and holding hands with the singer. During the interview, Perry also revealed that she had not had an alcoholic drink since January.
Coats gave testimony before a congressional panel last week, where he refused to confirm reports that the president had asked him to intervene in the Russian Federation probe.
BARRETT: It's probably a lesser understood part of this set of investigations that as they look at various people who were associates of the president both as president and when he was a candidate, they have also been looking at the finances of those folks.
That's from the Washington Post.
Christopher Ruddy, a friend of Trump's who owns the conservative news site Newsmax, said on June 12 that Trump was considering firing Mueller. If - you might remember after Comey's testimony, the President said that he felt vindicated by Comey's statements.
Obstruction issues emerged during a February 14 meeting in the Oval Office, when the president told Comey he hoped his disgraced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn would elude criminal prosecution.
Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates.
Many expected that Mueller would at some point turn to the topic of whether the president obstructed justice.
