LaVall Jordan set to be new basketball coach at Butler

Jordan is the first head coach to be hired from outside Butler's program since Collier, then a Stanford assistant, returned to the suburban Indianapolis campus in 1989.

Butler will hire Milwaukee coach and former Bulldog star LaVall Jordan to be their next men's basketball coach, barring a breakdown in negotiations, a source told Scout.

Jordan, an Albion, Michigan, native, joined Beilein's staff after assistant coaching stints at Iowa and Butler. The Panthers won just 11 games and finished in last place in the Horizon League.

The 38-year-old Jordan had previously interviewed to be Butler's head coach in 2013. Jordan may have to look around for a new coaching staff, as Terry Johnson and Ryan Pedon are expected to follow Holtmann to OSU. He has a season of head coaching experience at Milwaukee and a history of recruiting well at the high-major level at MI. It is unlikely that Milwaukee anticipated losing their head coach so shortly after hiring him, so a logical replacement is unclear at the moment. He participated in four consecutive postseason tournaments - NCAA (1998, 2000, 2001) and NIT (1999) - and helped record Butler's first NCAA tournament win in 39 years with a 79-63 win over Wake Forest in 2001.

In Jordan's one season at Milwaukee, he went 11-24.

Xbox One X coming to market
To be fair, Microsoft did forewarn that the Scorpio will be one expensive product and that it cost way more than the Xbox One S. Weight is arguably more significant, with the Xbox One X being somewhat heftier than its cousin, weighing in at 8.4lbs.

For a basketball program that is widely known for keeping it in the family, Jordan checks a lot of boxes. "I want to thank President Danko and Barry Collier for the faith they have placed in me to continue The Butler Way and our great success".

Across the country, LaVall Jordan has a positive reputation both as a coach and as a recruiter. Johnson and Jordan worked together's on Lickliter's staff over a decade ago, with Johnson having now worked for the last four Butler head coaches.

Slowly and surely, Milwaukee made strides and eventually made it to the Horizon League championship game at Joe Louis Arena.

It's Lavall Jordan. Gone for 10 years, but by no means an outsider.
