The U.S. network said Rodman had been spotted earlier at Beijing International Airport, where he declined to answer questions, but said that unnamed North Korean officials had confirmed that Rodman was expected to arrive in Pyongyang on Tuesday.
In a New Year's Day address, Kim Jong Un claimed that the North was in the "final stages" of developing an ICBM capable of striking the continental United States. Rodman would be arriving in Pyongyang at a time of heightened tension between Washington and Pyongyang, which is now detaining four Americans.
Kim is known to be an avid fan of basketball and Rodman.
The meeting took place on February 9, and the man had ties to USA intelligence, according to Malaysia authorities.
The President previously tweeted: "The only American who has met with the North Korean man child is Dennis Rodman".
"I was in [Trump's] office, and he said, "I want to go" to North Korea", Rodman recalled.
The former basketball star was also accused of ignoring North Korea's human rights record.

In March, the very idea of Rodman acting as a mediator between the two world leaders was floated during a panel discussion that Rodman took part in at West Point, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Before entering politics, Trump praised one of Rodman's 2013 trips to North Korea in an interview with Fox News. Pyongyang has already 16 missiles this year.
During a check of Kim's belongings, police found four bundles of US currency, mostly in mint condition, in a black bag.
During that first trip, Rodman told Kim he has a "friend for life", according to CNN.
The goal of his visit to North Korea is unknown, but CNN said that the U.S. State Department says he is not going to visit the North in any official U.S. capacity.
Speaking in 2014, he said: "It's about trying to bridge a gap to a country that people say is so bad".
