According to ESPN Stats & Info, Kevin Durant is the only 3rd NBA player to score at least 25 points during his first 8 NBA Finals games. Kevin Love hit three 3-pointers and led all scorers with 14 points in the first quarter. The Cavs came one point shy of the playoff record for highest scoring half, set by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1978 when they scored 87 in the second half of a 143-112 win over the Denver Nuggets. When the starting line-up of Golden State Warriors take a rest, these role players fill the gaps. LeBron James had only eight points, but had six assists over the first 12 minutes.

Kerr has talked about Durant sensing that this is his moment and his time. They won that game by seven. The last time was in 1989, when the Pistons swept a hobbled Lakers team that had beaten them in seven the year before. Golden State won the National Basketball Association title in 2015 in six games over the Cavs, and Cleveland won previous year in seven games. Magic Johnson has said that his Lakers would probably have even done it in a sweep. Should the Warriors stay healthy and together and it would cost them enormously in salaries and taxes they should be a title threat every year.
He added: "The guys in the '50s would have destroyed everybody".
