Tillerson is also calling on Qatar to address the concerns of other Arab nations.
Trump says the country has "historically been a funder of terrorism at a very high level".
Qatar will pay the Ashcroft Law Firm $2.5 million for a 90-day period as the country seeks to confirm its efforts to fight global terrorism and comply with financial regulations including US Treasury rules, according to a Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, filing on Friday with the Justice Department. "I decided, along with secretary of state Rex Tillerson.the time had come to call on Qatar to end its funding.and its extremist ideology in terms of funding".
Meanwhile, it appears, that Trump and Tillerson, are not on the same page as the latter has said that the Gulf countries' land and air blockade of Doha is hurting the campaign against ISIS.
"The blockade is hindering USA military actions in the region and the campaign against ISIS", Tillerson said, without providing details.
He said the diplomatic rift has not interrupted or curtailed operations at al Udeid air base, a launching pad for U.S. military efforts in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
"Qatar has a history of supporting groups that have spanned the spectrum of political expression, from activism to violence", he added.

Tiny Qatar has played an outsized role as a sponsor of factions in wars and revolutions across the Middle East under its 37-year-old ruler, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his father Hamad who stepped down in 2013 after 18 years in power. "The information about certain Arab countries' severance of relations with Qatar has caused our concern".
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Bahrain added 59 people to terrorist blacklists, among them 18 Qataris, including Abdullah bin Khalid Al Thani, a former interior minister and member of Qatar's royal family.
The neighbours also resent Qatar's ties to the Muslim Brotherhood movement and its sponsorship of the pan-Arab satellite television network Al-Jazeera, which has given opposition figures a platform. The country called the allegations "baseless". Some are prominent jihadists who have fought in Libya and Syria.
After an initial deployment of Turkish troops at a base in Doha, Turkish warplanes and ships will also be sent, the mass-circulation Hurriyet newspaper said on its website on Friday.
