Supt. Lemuel Gonda, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police in Northern Mindanao said Ominta Romato "Farhana" Maute, was arrested with two others in Barangay Kormatan, Masiu town.
The mother of key local jihadist militants Abdullah and Omar Maute, who led the bloody siege here, was arrested Friday afternoon in Masiu, Lanao del Sur, police said.
Before their arrest, Farhana and the other women had been hiding in Barangay (village) Dayawan in Masiu where they had bought firearms and a gray Toyota Revo, which they meant to use in their escape from Lanao del Sur.
Authorities seized from the suspects several high-powered firearms and improvised explosives.
They sustained bullet wounds when terrorists shot their vehicles with assault rifles while they were travelling through a stretch of a highway in Barangay Kalanganan in Pantar.

Masiu is among 39 towns of Lanao del Sur's first district, more or less 30 kilometers away from Marawi City. It is about 25-minute drive to Butig, the Maute family's hometown where the radical brothers and their followers engaged military and police contingents in a series of clashes a year ago.
A police report, quoting a reliable source, said Farhana was hiding in Dayawan village together with the two Maute members.
The arrest of Ominta Romato Maute came five days after her husband Cayamora was collared along with their daughter from the latter's second wife in a checkpoint in Davao City. He is now detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Pontillas said the couple claimed to be married; however, only the woman, who was identified as a teacher in Marawi City, was the only one who has the Maute surname.
