Global desk - Police have released names and photographs of three suspected London Bridge attackers who were shot dead eight minutes after they used a van and knives to kill seven pedestrians.

Religious leaders of all backgrounds have condemned the attack which killed seven and injured 47 on Saturday evening when three men rammed a rental van into pedestrians then randomly stabbed revellers in bars and restaurants near Borough Market.

The French national was walking with his girlfriend over the bridge when the attack began.

His girlfriend, who was hit by the vehicle, is seriously injured in hospital.

The identity of the last attacker in Saturday's attack that left seven dead and dozens wounded came as a new search was underway in a neighborhood in east London near the home of two of the London Bridge attackers.

Three more people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with London's weekend terrorist attack, on the eve of Britain's election, police said.

Italian authorities said Zaghba was stopped at the Bologna airport in March 2016 and questioned, but never charged with a crime.

Police have not identified the third attacker. He and Butt lived in Barking in east London.

British PM turns to NI to save Tory government
It's safe to say when UK Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap election in April, she wasn't envisioning this outcome. Combined, the Tories and the DUP - which won 10 seats - would have 329 MPs in the Commons.

Twelve people arrested as part of the investigation have since been released without charge.

The rampage was brought to an end when the trio were shot dead by armed police eight minutes after the first emergency call.

Australian authorities are working with United Kingdom police to determine what happened to Brisbane woman Sara Zelenak, 21, who is still missing after being separated from friends on London Bridge during the attack.

Rachid Redouane, who police said claimed to be Moroccan and Libyan, also went by the name Rachid Elkhdar with a different date of birth.

British police have named the third London Bridge attacker as 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba, and said that he is believed to be an Italian national of Moroccan descent.

The announcement came as United Kingdom authorities faced new questions over how one of the London Bridge attackers was let into Britain despite being on a security watch list.

Britain's top counter-terrorism officer Mark Rowley said Butt was known to the security services, but there was no evidence of "attack planning" by him.

The fallout from the attack has eclipsed other issues in the British political campaign ahead of Thursday's parliamentary election, with both the ruling Conservatives and opposition Labour Party battling to defend their records on security. But while the bridge reopened fully on Wednesday, the Borough Market and a small surrounding area remain closed, police said.
