Authorities in Orlando stated a disgruntled former employee of an awning company has shot and killed five people.
45-year-old Army veteran John Robert Neumann Junior, who police say used a semi-automatic pistol and methodically gunned down his victims before killing himself, was let go in April.
The person suspected of the shooting, a 45-year-old man who was sacked from his job there in April, had fatally shot himself, Mr. Demings said.
According to Sheriff Demings, the Orange County emergency call center received a call at approximately 8:03 a.m. on Monday morning reporting an active shooting situation at the Fiamma Awning facility located at 2427 Forsyth Road in Orlando.
Demings said Neumann had a "negative relationship" with at least one of his former co-workers near Orlando.
Shelley Adams told Channel 9 that she got a call from her sister, Sheila McIntyre, who was in the building during the shooting.
Neumann reloaded his handgun at least once along the way, moving through the large warehouse-type facility that Demings called a fairly extensive crime scene, shooting people in different locations on the floor.
Investigators work the scene of a fatal workplace shooting in Orlando, Florida, US, June 5, 2017. The business makes awnings for recreational vehicles.
Demings said the increase is necessary for morale and competitiveness, but also because recent tragedies like Pulse and Monday's Fiamma workplace shooting, explosive growth in the county and tourism.
The shooting happened early on Monday morning in the east of the city. Neumann had been fired in April, and back in 2014, he'd been involved in a complaint that he battered an employee.

Brenda Montanez-Crespo, 44; Kevin Clark, 53; Jeffrey Roberts, 57; and Kevin Lawson, 47, were also killed in the attack.
"All she kept saying was he was holding a gun and told her to get out", said.
"On June 5, 2017, Federal Bureau of Investigation personnel from the Orlando office responded with the Orange County Sheriff's Office to an incident involving an active shooter at a business on Forsyth Road in Orange County". "She kept saying, 'My boss is dead'".
Neumann, the sheriff said, appeared to have committed suicide.
Lawson's wife said her husband would give a person in need the shirt off his back. There were no charges at that time. It was the deadliest mass shooting in USA history with 49 people killed by a gunman in the early morning hours of June 12, 2016.
Law officials were seeking a search warrant for Neumann's home in the area, where he lived alone, Demings said.
Florida Governor Rick Scott has condemned the "senseless act of violence".
Banks and Orlando Mayor Teresa Jacobs both said the crime shows that people should speak up if they learn of anything that could lead to violence, so that authorities might have a chance to prevent it.
"It's going to be a long hard journey for them, but I am sure Kevin will be able to rest peacefully knowing so many are here to help protect his nest", organizer Robin Neill wrote Tuesday.
