And after last night's concert, which drew 15million viewers on BBC One, Piers took to Twitter to apologise for his previous remarks and even praise Ariana for her handsome tribute concert.
According to ratings analysis site overnights.tv, 22.6 million viewers tuned in to watch at least three minutes of the concert, held to support the victims of the terrorist attack at USA singer Ariana Grande's Manchester Arena show last month.
Additional performers, like Black Eyed Peas and Little Mix, were added later on, while Noel Gallagher and Imogen Heap gave surprise performances. Since the attack on Ariana's concert at the Manchester Arena staggering $12 million (£9.6 million) has been raised by members of the public.
"My heart is with you, Manchester", the singer said in the message posted on Sunday. "We're still singing our song, our song, our song", as the crowd hummed along. "To the families, we love you so much".
Proceeds from the concert will go towards the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, set up by Manchester City Council in partnership with the British Red Cross, to support grieving families and victims of the bombing.
The event came just hours after a terror attack in London Bridge on Saturday night in which seven people were killed and 48 injured.
