Fan of the Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing were none too pleased when the show was cancelled by ABC last week.
Conservatives have expressed disappointment in the show's demise.
The Tim Allen-starring sitcom was abruptly canceled on Wednesday after six seasons on the air, with the network citing business and scheduling conflicts. Therefore, there are reasons for the conspiracy theory to be thrown around out there.
"Last Man Standing stands out in the sea of network television sitcoms".
"Look, sadly, a large part of these jobs [as network bosses] is managing failure. And Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed".
Two hospitals still diverting patients — NHS cyber attack
Eiichi Moriya, a cybersecurity expert and professor at Meiji University, warned that paying the ransom would not guarantee a fix. Two hospitals were turning patients away from A&E yesterday and some operations and appointments were still being cancelled.
"Last Man Standing" has been hailed by some viewers for its positive portrayal of conservatives, while off-screen Allen has voiced his support for President Trump. With the Tuesday and Wednesday comedy blocks remaining largely intact (with a couple of tweaks and one new show launching), "Last Man Standing" was left without a spot.
It was also, however, an increasingly expensive show and one that ABC had no ownership stake in - it's produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
This isn't the first time the show has been politicized. Maybe it did on a scheduling level. It was just barely in the top half of ABC's shows as far as overnight ratings are concerned, but it was ABC's third-most-watched series in terms of overall audience, behind Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family, and ahead of The Goldbergs, which earned a two-season renewal (The Goldbergs had a higher rating, though).
What do you think about this cancellation in retrospect?
