Tottenham Hotspur's move to a new stadium can push them to join Europe's biggest clubs, manager Mauricio Pochettino said on Sunday as his side bade farewell to White Hart Lane with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

Hoddle and Ardiles, midfield stars of the 1980s, were joined by other greats including Martin Chivers, Gary Mabbutt, Ledley King and David Ginola, who received a huge ovation.

"We're a family on and off the pitch", Tottenham's last goalscorer at White Hart Lane said.

Spurs reeled off 14 home league wins in a row - equalling a club record set in 1987 - to clinch a return to the Champions League next term, none sweeter than the 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Arsenal last month. Even the heavens are shedding a tear.

"When the new era and stadium arrive there will be different expectations, but, most important, always in our memory will be White Hart Lane, the soul and the smell".

Worries remain about what the effect of playing at Wembley next season will have on a side who have been unbeatable at home this season, but Pochettino believes the fact that they will be playing in a new 61,000-seater stadium adjacent to their current ground in 2018-19 will take the club to the next level.

Talent is there along with confidence - and the White Hart Lane send-off gave the players a glimpse of the party that lies in wait if they win a trophy.

'That's got to be the next celebration.

"That's got to be our next step".

Chelsea were crowned champions after their win at West Bromwich Albion on Friday, but Tottenham had the ideal occasion to forget that frustration as they prepare to temporarily play at Wembley while the Lane is demolished to make way for a new arena. It was just our performances on those days were not great. "We've got the team, we've got the belief, so next season hopefully it's our year". Of course there's going to be rumours over the summer, but I'd be very surprised if most of us aren't still here next season.

"First of all, sorry I can't get there".

"We have to keep working harder, keep getting better and hopefully next season we'll finish first".

"I am not upset because we had to make that decision", he said.

'To score the victor, to win the game and finish unbeaten here is something special, ' Kane said. We've got a very bright future'.

"There's no way I can see Daniel Levy letting him go with Spurs to move to a new stadium next year", Neville told Sky Sports. Obviously a lot of top teams, the top six as we look at now, are all going to be fighting for that title again and it's been quite an achievement this year to finish second, but we've got to go one better next year.

"The worst thing is when I watch them I think about my time there and that's a time I can never get back".
